Malware Being Spread on Skype IM

If you use Skype, do not click any links looking like “lol is this your new profile pic?”  The link downloads a ZIP file containing an executable that installs a variant of the Dorkbot work, and opens a backdoor to vulnerable computers.  It also locks the user out of their computer, requiring a password that is ransoms for a payment of $2000!

Beware Of Circulating “Ransomeware”

We wanted to make a post giving alert there has been an increase in “ransomware” over the past couple months.  Ransomeware is a type of malware (or virus) that locks you out of your computer and applications until you pay a ransom.  They appear in many different formats, some posing as anti-virus software, some issuing threats, and most recently as a FBI issued requirement (image below).

Flashback Botnet Malware Has Infected More Then 600,000 Macs
